Avril Lavigne is making progress on her new album.

With a Twitter post Thursday, the “Girlfriend” singer thanked her fans to their patience and rewarded them with an update on her next release.

“To my fans,” she wrote. “I just want to thank everyone for their patience as I work on putting together this new album. It’s been a long recovery and I want to make sure that this is perfect for you guys!!”

Her forthcoming sixth album will be the followup to Lavigne’s self-titled 2014 set, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

“You only deserve my best effort and that’s what I’m going to deliver!” Lavigne added. “I can’t wait to share the new music I’m working on, I promise it’ll be here before you know it!! Love you, Avril.”

The as-yet untitled album will be the Canadian pop singer’s first through a new deal with BMG, which Lavigne revealed earlier this year. Whether she’s still on track for a late 2017 release date remains to be seen.

At the time of the announcement, Lavigne spoke to Billboard about how her new music was shaping up. “I challenged myself as a songwriter and I wanted to write about topics I hadn’t hit on before,” Lavigne explained. “There’s the love topic, but a lot of these songs are about life. I’ve experienced a lot over the past few years, and some of the songs just came to me. Concepts and lyrics were flowing and I would have to grab my phone to sing into voice memo and write out my lyrics.”
