Local indie rock band Carousel Casualties released “Safety,” their first official single over the weekend.
“‘Safety’ is a song of reassurance and security,” says vocalist Emmie Villegas. “We used to call ‘Safety’ as ‘The Dance Song’ before the actual lyrics were written. I wanted to make an upbeat song that connects with people in a more positive manner.”
“Safety” was recorded at La Balls Studio in Makati and was produced by Nick Lazaro.
Influenced by The Cure, The Smiths, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, and The Strokes, Carousel Casualties take their listeners through a ’70s disco trip, while packing a garage rock sound. “Life is like a carousel,” Villegas explains the name of the band. “It goes round and round and we’re all like carousel casualties living our own lives and getting to know ourselves with our fellow riders.”
Their debut album Madison is slated for release in mid-2017.
