Besides tag-teaming with Big Sean on “No Favors,” Eminem has remained relatively mum on the music scene for 2017. Now, it appears fans have a glimmer of hope regarding a new Shady album, courtesy of director Allen Hughes.

In an interview with Uproxx this past Friday (July 7), the Defiant Ones director spilled the beans when asked about Dr. Dre’s transition from hip-hop savant to savvy businessman.

“Dre still records,” Hughes said. “People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting. Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album. So Dre’s still real active in music, you know?”

Over the weekend, 2 Chainz added more fuel to the fire during his interview with DJ Drama on Shade 45’s Streetz Iz Watchin’. According to Chainz, he and Eminem recorded a track together after a phone call was made by D-12 member, Denaun Porter. Initially, the “It’s a Vibe” star wasn’t sold on the idea, considering they simply wanted him to redo a hook and throw on some ad-libs.

“I’ve heard it all, you know what I’m saying,” said Chainz. “It’s like, you see a rapper in the club and you’re like, ‘Let’s do one.’ It’s cap, you know what I mean? So you know, he’s like, ‘The boy wanna do something with you.’ And I’m like, ‘Whatever.’”

Hungry to prove himself, Chainz met up with Eminem at Rick Rubin’s house. After Eminem was willing to offer him a slot on his remix, Chainz upped the ante, and suggested that he get on on the original track as a featured artist. “I tell him straight up… Eminem, what would you need a remix for? Remixes are used to carry records to No. 1 spots. When have you ever did a remix for someone or for yourself? That’s cap at it’s finest,” he said.

If an Eminem album is indeed on the way, this will mark his first full-length project since his 2013 effort Marshall Mathers LP 2Billboard reached out to an Eminem rep for comment.
