“I go by the name of Alec. But then again most people misspell/mispronounce my name so Alex nalang (ako na magaadjust).” This is what you’ll find in pop, jazz, and folk musician Alec Padua’s self-introduction on his Facebook page. Whichever way he writes his name, what definitely stands out is how he writes his songs.

Alec —or well, Alex Corner— has written a variety of songs inspired by television shows and movies. Among these are “Hold the Door” from Game of Thrones, “Sampung Segundo” from Kita Kita, and “Tagay”, an Oktoberfest-themed song from I’m Drunk, I Love You.

These tracks will all be included in his aptly named forthcoming EP Now Showing, which will be launched on November 16 at Route 196.

Aside from his original tracks, Corner also regularly uploads cover performances on his YouTube channel. Here’s his take on Ben&Ben‘s “Kathang Isip”. If you enjoy it, drop by his corner and check out the rest of his videos.
