Much has happened in the past few months for Indie Folk band The Ransom Collective. Anyone who’s been following their online activity would have noticed the updates regarding their recent trip to Malaysia. Without completely revealing the activities that transpired during the trip, the band kept fans close by through social media.

The young six-member band with their infectious anthems and commercial smiles, have now taken their musical presence overseas through a songwriting-acting collaboration with two other international artists: Yuna from Malaysia and GAC from Indonesia.

Oreo Asia’s “Wonderfilled” advertising campaign brings artists from Malaysia, Indonesia and The Philippines together.

Last year, they featured Zee Avi from Malaysia, GAC from Indonesia and homegrown Filipino band, Up Dharma Down.

There’s truth in the cliche, “Music is a universal language.” And with the ASEAN economic integration in practice, people can expect more of cross-cultural collaborations in music, be it for marketing, advertising, or any other industry out there.
