A month after December Avenue unveiled “Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-Ibig,” Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus guitarist Alvin Chan found himself in Metro Manila directing the official visual for the pop-rock act’s first single of 2017. With his impressive portfolio of short travel stories, he’d always wanted to shoot a music video, and it was all about figuring out how to slip in his creative mark to a slow, sad song.
“Sa start pa lang, gusto namin masaktan yung mga viewers after nila mapanood,” Chan recalls, laughing. It took their team two days to shoot the video, which stars Hilera drummer Bobby Padilla and Boneyard Circus bassist Carissa Ramos with actress Rich Asuncion. “When me, Koi (Busalla), and Carlo (Perlas) were meeting at Tower of Doom during one of the Boneyard Circus’ recording sessions, biglang pumasok si Carissa, ngumiti nalang si Koi and natawa ako dahil yung concept ng video ay true story ni Carissa.”
He adds that it was all in perfect timing that Hilera had a video launch at 70’s Bistro that evening, where they’d gone to ask Padilla to be part of the video. “Sobrang sakto ‘un dalawa kasi natural lahat ng kilig moments nila. Yun ibang scenes, si Carissa na nagsuggest para makadami siya kay Bob!”
The “Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-Ibig” visual tells the story of a girl who daydreams about what it would be like to be in a relationship with a guy she likes, but then eventually wakes up to the reality of her love interest having a girlfriend and that it isn’t possible for her fantasies to come true.
December Avenue released the visual last night (Jul. 4) on Tower of Doom’s YouTube channel.
