It is a fascinating manifestation of pure human connection to experience and be moved by music regardless of diversity in genre, style, culture, and language. It is even more interesting how one can be captivated by a piece that has no trace of that last element: words. This is the experience that the music of Sound Architects brings, conversing not through tongues but with the soul.
The four-piece post-rock act, composed of Felix Cordova (drums), Rjay Concepcion (bass), Patrick Roxas (guitars), and Johann Mendoza (guitars), has been creating heavily-layered and textured atmospheric music since 2013. Their instrumental tracks exhibit the various genres that the band draws their influences from, such as rock, metal, ambient, drone, jazz, and 20th and 21st century classical music. Employing mercurial yet precise use of dynamics to elicit a broad range of emotions from the listener, their songs speak more than words can offer, making them suitable film soundtracks. Pepe Diokno’s Above The Clouds and Kapatiran both feature Sound Architects’ instrumental music.
