Reese Lansangan‘s music can take any listener on a trip through curious deep sea explorations to reminiscing childhood and thoughts of growing up with tracks like “Machines and Men.” After her recent trip to Japan, the singer-songwriter/seasoned traveler took a moment to cover the High School Musical hit “What I’ve Been Looking For.”
“I just came back from Japan and they kept playing High School Musical EVERYWHERE in Harajuku like you wouldn’t believe,” Lansangan posts on YouTube. “It was like all the shop owners shared a single Spotify playlist.”
In her cover, Lansangan offers a mellow take on the Disney favorite, close to the Troy and Gabriella version, but still making it her own. “It was so fun to get to revisit this song in 2017. I also wanted to wear something red and white to represent East High,” she says.
