Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers 2 has been lingering around on the sideline for sometime, but if his latest DayToday vlog is any indication, it may be liberated sooner than we think. On Monday (Oct. 9), Wiz shared the new episode of DayToday where he offered viewers a behind-the-scenes look into his recording process and his meeting with Pharrell Williams.
Wiz’s latest vlog comes on the heels of a photo he recently posted to Instagram, where he and Williams are seated on a couch in a studio. In the vlog, Wiz and his engineer are laying down the final touches on a new track titled “Look What You Did to Me,” powered by a catchy hook and a booming beat. The “Something New” rapper later previews another song, and dances along to the infectious arrangement.
Pharrell appears midway through the video, and discusses how his creative approach has changed over the years. “I used to just be super impulsive, and I didn’t think things out,” he tells Wiz. “Anything that I do, I want it to have like depth and purpose.” Pharrell later commends Wiz for all he’s accomplished including his rap career, entertainment company Taylor Gang Ent. and acting roles like the upcoming Netflix film The After Party, which stars Wiz, French Montana, and Teyana Taylor.
While he’s currently readying Rolling Papers 2, Wiz teased fans with the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted “Something New” and connected with PartyNextDoor on “Rain.”
